The much-anticipated transfer of Hardik Pandya to Mumbai Indians has been successfully completed. In a significant unilateral move, the 30-year-old all-rounder has officially returned to the franchise with which he won four titles.
In addition, Mumbai Indians have strengthened their financial position by engaging in another cash transaction with Royal Challengers Bangalore, involving a substantial sum of INR 17.5 crores, to facilitate Pandya’s acquisition. This transaction adds to their financial strength, aligning with the league value of the Australian all-rounder.
This financial maneuver not only fulfills Pandya’s deal with the Gujarat Titans but also positions the five-time champion adequately for the upcoming IPL 2024 auction scheduled for December 19 in Dubai.
Crucially, the agreement has been officially communicated among all three franchises – Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans, and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The releases and retentions for IPL 2024 were finalized on Sunday (November 26) as part of the MI-GT trade and the MI-RCB transaction in the M-A transfer.
According to internal sources within BCCI and IPL, formal approval has been granted for these cash transactions. While the specific value of the transactions remains undisclosed, it is noteworthy that Pandya’s league fee for the year is INR 15 crores.
The unfolding of these trades came with dramatic ups and downs as the deadline for completion approached on Sunday at 5 PM IST. Initially retained by both Gujarat and Mumbai as listed players, Hardik Pandya and Green were eventually traded after the expiration of the transfer window.
As reported by on Saturday, the trading window remains open until a week before the auction, and all trades can be executed until December 12. However, all three franchises concluded their transfers late on Sunday.
The official announcement was made on Monday (November 27) via an IPL media release, confirming Pandya’s return to Mumbai Indians and Green’s transfer to Royal Challengers Bangalore.

“In a separate deal, Mumbai Indians’ all-rounder Cameron Green has been traded to Royal Challengers Bangalore. Green, acquired at a hefty price of INR 17.5 crores in the auction last December, participated in 16 matches. The Australian showcased an impactful performance in IPL, including an unbeaten century and two half-centuries, along with six wickets. Both trades have been conducted according to the current player’s fee.”
