IPL 2024: Possibility of programs after voting dates

With the election dates pending to be announced by the Election Commission of India, the BCCI is yet to finalize the IPL schedule. The schedule of IPL will be decided on the basis of election days. For planning purposes, the BCCI has informed the franchises that they can expect the IPL to be held from the third week of March to the third week of May.

Although the plan is to hold the match in India, there may be changes in logistics and operations if affected by the elections. In such a situation, a part of the league can be shifted out of India. It is noteworthy that BCCI had organized the entire league in India during the last general elections in 2019.

Note to Franchisees

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has requested franchises to respond with additional player requests that are not listed in the auction register. If the requested players are eligible and interested they will be automatically included in the auction.

The franchises have also been instructed to respond to the register with a list of players they wish to include in the auction, while also being reminded that only 77 slots are to be filled, of which a maximum of 30 can be foreign players.
